In June 2014 I flew to Denver to attend Copyblogger’s Authority Intensive conference determined to get a job offer from them. A week later I was a full-time employee of Copyblogger Media, which later became Rainmaker Digital.
After more than three and half years at Rainmaker Digital, I’ve come to the decision that it’s time for me to move on and begin a new adventure.
Why?
I’m passionate about helping people use technology to grow their businesses. As excited as I was to help build the Rainmaker Platform, I’m even more excited to help my clients build and grow a successful, profitable business.
Returning to client work gives me an opportunity to learn new things and work on a variety of projects.
Every accomplishment begins with a decision to try ~ Gail Devers
This is my wife’s favorite quote. In fact, there’s a print of it hanging right inside our front door. So I’ve made the decision to try something new.
I’m happy to announce the launch of Stompgear, a digital marketing and website development agency. Stompgear provides content strategy, online marketing, and growth hacking for startups, SaaS companies, and entrepreneurs.
This move gives me the freedom and time to work on several projects I’ve started and stopped in the past. I’ll be able to develop premium plugins, continue speaking at WordCamps, and give back more to the WordPress community.
I’ll also continue to do freelance work for other agencies that need help building custom WordPress websites and plugins
I get by with a little help from my friends
I couldn’t have done this without all the encouragement and advice I’ve received from so many of my friends. I’ve had a lot of meaningful conversations about business and life recently, and I wanted to thank a few people in particular whose guidance and advice has meant a lot to me.
Kyle Maurer
Sara Dunn
Adam Silver
Michele Martello
Shawn Hesketh
Carrie Dils
Justin Ferriman
Stacy Kvernmo
Rafal Tomal
(In no way is this a complete list. I’m inspired by what so many of my friends and colleagues have accomplished it’d be impossible to name them all!)
And most importantly, my wife Kari, who always has my back and is right there beside me through all the ups and downs life throws at us. This wasn’t an easy decision to make knowing the impact it could have on our family, but knowing I have her support I’m ready to make that leap.
Thank you all for your support!
I haven’t been this excited to try something new in a long time, and I hope you’ll follow me on my journey.
Good for you Mike! Best wishes
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Keep inspiring 🙂
